YOU MAY HAVE HEARD THERE IS A GOJI STORY, BUT IN FACT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE GOJI STORY – ALL DATING BACK AS LONG AS RECORDED CHINESE HISTORY.

Goji Story (601-700 A.D.)
The ancient medical book Yaoxing Lun (Treatise on the Nature of Medicinal Herbs) spares a special attention to wolfberry, and points that its fruits "replenish the supply of body fluids, calms the spirit, refreshes the skin, brightens the complexion and strengthens the eyes."

Goji Health Story (701-800 A.D.)
In another Chinese classic, Shi Liao Ben Cao (A Dietetic Materia Medica), it is said that wolfberry "strengthens the muscles and tendons, prevents of colds and leads to longevity."

Goji Story (618-907 A.D.)
The poet Liu Yuxi extols the marvelous effects of the herb in a poem for the wolfberry after talking with a 388 year old woman on his visit to Tianjing Mount. In it, he writes that even the water from a well near the plant can help the people attain longevity:

The twig is originally the cane for the fairy,
and the old root takes the form of the lucky dog.
The fruits carries the taste of the amrita,
while it is noteworthy that it helps to longevity.

Goji Health Story (1368 to 1644 A.D)
A famous Chinese physician, Li Shizhen compiled the Great Compendium of Herbs (or Compendium of Materia Medica), which stated, “The Bao Shou herb store recorded an elixir that promotes longevity. A bizarre barefooted man named Zhang passed the formula of this elixir to an elderly person at Yi Shi County, who followed the recipe and lived for over a hundred years. The elderly man could walk extremely fast as if he was flying. His gray hair turned black again. His aged teeth were replaced with new ones and he was very virile in the bedroom. The herb is mellow and can be taken often to eliminate excessive heat in the body, and will also improve vision.”
